Our Bio-Sand Water Filter is a self-contained system constructed from durable concrete, utilizing a natural filtration process involving sand, gravel, and gravity. This simple yet ingenious design requires no electricity or chemicals, making it ideal for rural or remote areas.
Contaminated water is poured into the filter, passing through multiple layers of specially graded sand and gravel. These layers not only trap particles and sediment but also foster a biological layer at the top, which naturally removes harmful bacteria, viruses, and parasites. The result is pure, clean drinking water delivered on demand, right at the household level.
On July 28, 2010, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution A/RES/64/292, officially recognizing access to safe, clean drinking water and sanitation as a fundamental human right. Despite this declaration, clean water remains an unattainable luxury for many. While many of us take the availability of clean water for granted, a UN report highlights a stark reality: over 884 million people worldwide still lack access to this basic necessity.
Our Bio-Sand Water Filters aim to bridge this gap by providing an accessible, sustainable solution.
